Growing a successful children’s author brand to reach new readers
This author is one of the biggest children’s brands, with a broad portfolio of books ranging from picture series to middle grade titles. This research project was designed to help to grow the reach of the author by understanding how audiences engage with the titles and what they want to see more of in the future.
The research took a holistic look across all the authors work and included feedback from both parents and from young readers themselves. Participants had several days to answer questions in a closed online forum where they shared a range of content including photos and videos about the books they read and how they interact with the author brand. Following the asynchronous forum, selected participants (parents and children) took part in a further deep dive to dig into some of the findings in more depth. Our participants shared photos and videos which created a highly engaging output.
This project helped to identify the threads that engaged audiences across this authors work, allowing a plan of action for the author to be developed. The research was shared and used by different teams across the publishing house – including marketing, sales, and the authors agents.
